Pre-School

1. Use any material to make 3 little worms.
2. Decorate a pinecone.
3. Make a flower using playdough.
4. Paint or draw a picture of your favourite farm animal.
5. Add colour to a printout of a piece of farm equipment

Junior Kindergarten (JK)

1. Create a piece of art using a leaf.
2. Draw a picture of a plant growing out of a seed.
3. Make a farm animal using a paper plate.
4. Make a puffy rain cloud and raindrops.
5. Attach flowers (real or artificial) to a small piece of wood to make a mini flower garden.

Senior Kindergarten (SK)

1. Construct a mud pie in a small pie plate.
2. Draw a picture of a plant or vegetable garden.
3. Make an insect using a pinecone.
4. Make a cob of corn out of a paper roll.
5. Construct a sun with sun rays.

Grade One

1. Create a farm animal using a Kleenex box.
2. Make and decorate an umbrella using a paper plate.
3. Build a nest using things found in nature.
4. Construct a rainbow on an 8 ½ “ x 11” background using bits of coloured paper.
5. Create a collage of either drawn or cut-out pictures on the topic, “Basic needs of trees” (From the Ontario Grade 1 Science Curriculum).

Grade Two

1. Draw and decorate a picture of a cowboy boot.
2. Build a chicken coop out of a milk carton-sized box.
3. Make a flower bouquet out of cupcake liners.
4. Draw a picture of horses in a field.
5. Make a poster depicting the life cycle of a chicken. (From the Ontario Grade 2 Science Curriculum)

Grade Three

1. Build a little house using items found in nature or popsicle sticks.
2. Create a mosaic with various pieces of paper.
3. Create a picture of some maple trees being tapped for maple syrup.
4. Show 3 or more compost layers in a clear container with a lid.
5. Draw a picture of locally grown food and label your picture in cursive. (From the Ontario Grade 3 Science Curriculum).

Grade Four

1. Create a birdhouse out of sticks or popsicle sticks.
2. Draw a design for a fair ride you would like to create.
3. Create a “Product of Canada” label for a food product.
4. Construct a 3D standing windmill (no higher than 30 cm)
5. Create a piece of art and then write a paragraph analyzing the elements in it. (From the Ontario Grade 4 Arts Curriculum)

Grade Five

1. Draw a picture of a farm scene, cut it into 6 pieces to make a puzzle and mount it for display.
2. Make a poster describing the four grades of maple syrup.
3. Create a farm stand replica, no bigger than the size of a shoe box.
4. Make a small hanging windchime out of repurposed materials (such as tin, cutlery, or items found in nature).
5. Create a piece of art and then write a paragraph analyzing the elements in it. (From the Ontario Grade 5 Arts Curriculum).

Grade Six

1. Construct a 3D farm using a shoebox.
2. Design and draw a welcome sign for your community or town.
3. Design and draw or paint a barn quilt.
4. Make a word search from words related to this year’s theme (“Where Country and City Meet”).
5. Write a letter to Catherine Kitts, Councillor of Orléans South-Navan, expressing your opinion about what we should be doing as a community to live more sustainably. (From the Ontario Grade 6 Language Arts/Social Studies Curriculum).

Grade Seven and Eight

1. Create a hand-drawn poster about this year’s Navan Fair theme (Where Country and City Meet”). Posters should be drawn on an 8.5”x11” sized paper and mounted on card stock or bristol board with a 1” border on all four sides.
2. Create a computer-generated poster on the topic: “Celebrating the City of Ottawa’s 200th year!” Posters should be printed on an 8.5”x11” sized paper and mounted on card stock or bristol board with a 1” border on all four sides.
