Rules & Regulations

  1. At our insurance company’s insistence, livestock exhibitors must provide proof of $2,000,000 liability insurance or entries will be refused.
  2. Each Exhibitor must have purchased a 2026 Membership prior to the fair in order to exhibit.  Please refer to Membership/Admission section of the prize list for membership fee information, which must accompany the entry form.
  3. Entries must be received by Friday, July 31, 2026, by visiting our website www.navanfair.ca for online entry form (Assist Expo) with capability to pay via PayPal. Entire entries received show day will be charged an additional $10 administration fee to the exhibitor)
  4. A 20% entry fee will be deducted from the prize money. Exhibitors’ passes are available at the Fair office.
  5. Judging will begin at 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 6 of all three breeds.
  6. All animals must arrive by 10:00 am, Thursday, August 6. No animals will be allowed on the grounds before Wednesday, August 5. This will be strictly enforced. All animals are to be removed from the grounds by 9 pm, Thursday, August 6 unless arrangements are made.
  7. Only one tie ring per animal will be allowed. This rule will be strictly enforced.
  8. Straw may be available for a fee.  Please call Andrew at (613) 878-1430 to make arrangements ahead of time.
  9. Each Exhibitor is responsible for manure and milk removal to a designated area. We ask that no milk be dumped in manure piles. No milking system will be provided.
  10. Under no circumstances should an animal exhibiting signs of transmittal diseases be taken onto the Navan Fair grounds. The show committee and other Navan Fair officials have the right to refuse entry of any animal showing signs of an infectious disease (e.g. Warts, ringworm, BVD etc.).  If a Veterinary check is required, it will be at the expense of the exhibitor and the veterinary’s decision is final.  Also, The CTAS recommends that all animals have proof of Rabies Immunization a minimum of 30 days prior to the show in order to comply with O. Reg. 497/17, which is in effect as of July 1st, 2019.
  11. All animals exhibited must be 87.5% purity and must be registered on the records of their applicable breed Association, in the name of the exhibitor. No animal will be accepted without a registration certificate. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.
  12. Each animal will be checked against its pedigree prior to entry into the ring.
  13. Each Exhibitor may show a maximum of 10 animals. Plus 2 additional Jr. animals, providing they are 4-H calves and shown by the 4-H member.
  14. A maximum of two (2) substitute animals will be permitted. A fee of $5.00 per substitute will be charged.
  15. The Judge may be asked to give reasons on the top 3 or 4 animals.
  16. Your attention is drawn to the fact that there must be at least 3 Exhibitors and 24 exhibits in each breed of dairy classification; if this is not achieved the Fair reserves the right to cancel the Show.
  17. Barn space will be assigned.  In the event of full barns, Exhibitors who fail to have their entries in on time may be asked to tie outside or leave the show.  This will help ensure exhibitors who have their entries in on time will have barn space.
  18. Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor points will be calculated as follows:

Points will be calculated on the top 7 placings.

ALL ANIMALS MUST HAVE RFID TAGS IN EARS, PRIOR TO ARRIVAL.

Special Class “Pee Wee”

Calves exhibited by boys and girls up to 10 years of age as of the date of the show. Calves must be born after March 1, 2026.  No one exhibiting in this class may show a calf exhibited by a 4-H CLUB member. No B.C.A. required. No entry fee required. To be shown before classes begin. This class is open to all breeds.

The class will be judged on Thursday, August 6 following the conclusion of the three breed shows.

The trophy will be presented at the 79th Navan Fair Opening and Award Ceremony on August 6 at 7pm.
