Important Information

WE ARE NOW USING THE ASSISTEXPO PROGRAMME TO RECORD ENTRIES. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING CHANGES TO ENTER YOUR CRAFTS:

  • ALL ENTRIES SHOULD BE COMPLETED THROUGH ASSISTEXPO.
  • IF YOU DON’T HAVE COMPUTER ACCESS, CONTACT THE DIRECTOR TO GIVE YOUR ENTRY BEFORE WEDNESDAY, JULY 29 OR YOU WILL NOT BE REGISTERED AND THEREFORE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR JUDGING. 
  • COMPLETED TAGS WILL BE READY FOR PICK-UP AT THE OFFICE AFTER FRIDAY, JULY 31st 2026.
  • SELF COMPLETED TAGS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE.

Rules & Regulations

  1. Exhibits must be the work of the exhibitor.
  2. Exhibitors can enter one article only in each category. For example, only one dress or only one jogging suit, but both items may be entered in their own category.
  3. Exhibitors are not permitted to show the same article more than two years. Preference will be given to new work.
  4. Soiled, defaced or old work will be disqualified.
  5. Exhibitors must be a member of the Cumberland Township Agricultural Society (you must give your membership number when entering, (Exception: members are not required for youth (12 yrs. & under) and/or in the “Persons with disabilities” sections)
  6. ENTER ONLINE – https://www.assistexpo.ca/navanfair, by email: ehodges@xplornet.com or contact the office 613-835-2766.
  7. All entry lists must be in no later than Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Late entries will not be accepted.
  8. Please indicate if you are a senior (75+), new exhibitor or youth as there are special prizes for top entries in these categories. (This can be done on the AssistExpo entry form.)
  9. Exhibits must be brought to the blue Exhibit Building (no.8) on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
  10. Judging will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The Exhibit building will be closed until approximately 5 pm, or until judging is finished and the display is assembled. 
  11. In case of no competition, the judge will only give a prize if work is worthy.
  12. In case of a tie, the overall winner will be determined by the exhibitor with the greatest number of first prizes.
  13. Exhibits cannot be removed until after 4:30 pm, Sunday, August 9, 2026. The Exhibit Building will be closed at 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 9 for disassembly of the displays. (This usually takes approximately half an hour.)
  14. NO PICK-UPS WILL BE ALLOWED UNTIL AFTER THIS DISASSEMBLY FOR SAFETY REASONS.
  15. The Agricultural Society is not responsible for exhibits not claimed after 6 pm.

Prize money may be picked up at the Fair office any time after 3pm on Friday or throughout the weekend. Prizes not claimed before the end of September 2026 will be considered as a donation to the CTAS.

Judging

Articles will be judged using the scoring system according to the booklet “Home craft Judging Standards for Ontario Fairs” unless otherwise stated. These standards are important if you want to know what the judge is looking for. Call the Fair Office at 835-2766 for a copy of these judging standards, OR check the OAAS website www.ontariofairs.com

Classes

PLEASE NOTE: THE SECTION FOR “KIDS ONLY CRAFTS” can be found under the heading “YOUTH” AT THE END OF THE REGULAR CLASS LIST.

CLASS: GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY (1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes)

Small, themed decorated basket with non-perishable food items or hygiene items e.g. toothpaste, soap etc. (Baskets available if needed, contact the Arts and Crafts Director)

Note: All items will be donated to a charitable organization e.g. Food Bank, Resource Centre.

CLASS: PEOPLE’S CHOICE: ($6) Judged by “the people”

Painted rock. People who visit the arts and crafts division can cast their vote and choose their favourite one.

Sponsored by the Navan Women’s Institute.

CLASS: SEWING: *Sample of material attached (SMA) to qualify

  • To compete at the regional level, please see rules for the Grand Champion Quilt Competition below this list. Must be at least 280” perimeter to qualify for further competition.

Grand Champion Hand Quilted Quilt Competition of Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies

Machine Championship Quilt Competition of Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies

  • Entries must be solely made, and machine quilted by the exhibitor.
  • Measured on the perimeter- total perimeter to be minimum of 280” – can be square or rectangular etc.
  • Grand Champion quilt/wall hanging will go to District level for judging.
  • Prizes: ribbon, plus $25, $15 and $10
  • Winner of District advances to the annual OAAS Convention.

All prints, 4×6 or 5×7, are to be mounted on white Bristol board with a 1″ border all round, (not framed) with category and Fair name on back. Pictures must be taken in current year. Absolutely NO digital image ENHANCING allowed. All enhanced photos will be disqualified. Navan Fair is not responsible for any damage that may occur to photos that are submitted.
Every effort will be made to protect photos from potential damage.

The OAAS holds this competition annually in an effort to acquire photographs and slides for their “Competitions” at www.ontariofairs.com for a full list of eligible categories.


Deadline: December 1, 2026. All photos for this competition must be of the 2026 Navan Fair. So, bring your camera to this year’s fair and start ‘snappin’. You might have a winning shot!
